Kelton's Broken Leg

So Tuesday, Sept 7 was going well. Julie (trey's mom) was here and helped me get Kelton to school, clean the house and get the boys down for a nap before she left. Right after she left I got a call from the school telling me that Kelton had got hurt at school and didn't want anyone to move him. I headed over to the school and found the principal right by him trying to comfort him while he was laying on the school field crying that his leg hurt. When he say me his crying slowed and I asked him what happened. He told me his leg really hurt and that he didn't want anyone to move him. I then had to inform him that we had to go to the dr and he was going to have to move. He instantly started crying and I gritted MY TEETH and carried him to the car. We then ran home to get Beefy and headed to the insta-care in Highland. After the following x-ray was taken.
The Dr. told me that she had already talked with Primary Childrens and they were waiting for us. So I left John & Beef with Jo and Lacie, called Trey and headed for Primary Children's Hospital. Kelton was still hurting but wasn't crying as long as he was still. I put him in a wheel chair and headed inside. Once inside our nurse was Jill (2007 Miss Utah). She gave Kelton his IV and also this picture. He thought it was pretty cool. (James was doing his intern there and we tried to get him, but he had just left)-It was then that we found out he was playing tackle football at recess and someone tackled him when he didn't even have the ball.
Trey & Jared came and gave him a blessing and then we had to wait around until they Operating Room came open. The first opening was at 5:30PM and Kelton was 3rd on the waiting list. At about 11:30PM the took him into surgery, placing 2 flex screws in his femur. These are the after x-rays.
You'll notice the bone is still sticking out. Dr Klatt said that it would calcify over and wear down so it will be just perfect in about 8 weeks-Isn't it amazing how the body works.
Kelton after he woke-up after surgery
Kelton enjoying a famous Primary Children's slushy after learning to use the walker and wheel chair, which will be his only transportation for the next 8 WEEKS! He gets to go back to school in about a week and he will be in this sweet wheel chair.
While we were up at Primary's Libbey and Lindsey took care of John & Beef. They had such a great time, by the time we got back home Wednesday, Sept 8 at 12:00PM Beefy fell asleep eating dinner.
Thanks everyone for you concerned calls, prayers, thoughts, and cards.

Park Valley September 2010

We headed up to P's Place in Park Valley over Labor Day. We had a blast. We got there Friday night and came home Monday afternoon. We shot guns, rode 4-wheelers, celebrated birthdays (mine & T's), ate, played in water, sat around the fire and read. It just doesn't get any better than that. This post will mostly be pictures so enjoy.
John & Kelton trying out their NEW bb gun
Kelton is quite the shot!
We went on a ride up the canyon and Beef didn't stop smiling until we got out of the back of the truck. It took 2 tucks (front & backs full) and two 4-wheeler with 2 adults and 2 kids on each to get us up the canyon for a bit of target practice.
Beef wanting to ride the 4-wheeler on the way back to camp
I was in charge of opeing and closing some of the gates we went through-Trey thought it was funny that I couldn't get this gate open-I had to get my mom to help me:)

Saige & Kelton made these fishing poles and where trying to catch fish in the stream. If you look close you will see it is made out of a stick and pull-apart licorice-pretty creative if you ask me!
Casey letting Beef ride back to camp on the 4-wheeler
Birthday boy and his mom & dad (Lacie & James)
Our wicked game of kick ball-It started out with the kids playing to but ended up with tall the adults getting pretty competitive and making fun of each other. Lets just say non of us are quite as good as we were in elementary school
The fire pit where everything ends up
Beefy driving the little 4-wheeler with me on back because he's not a great driver just yet
John driving-He was the first to be able to drive & honk the horn at the same time
Kelton busting some tricks while driving the 4-wheeler
On Saturday night the wind blew so hard it tipped our tent over with us in it. So Sunday we moved our tent and it was a good thing because the wind picked up even more (I think around 50 mph). Well needless to say we needed to spend some time inside so everyone snuggled up in Lacie & Jame's trailer and watched a movie & ate dinner.
A pic of some of the great food we had. This was breakfast Monday morning-Scones and Bacon
Lacie ROCKS! She came along with little Jaide and stayed the whole time
(Jaide is only 3 months old)
Shanda (Ryan Palmer's wife) would drive the trailer around and the kids would pick up wood for the fire. We all thought it was pretty fun.
The boys had an old fashion shoot off-quick-draw-VERY FUNNY!
Skeet shooting-Nothing hit the ground-you had to shoot in order. The person closest to the skeet thrower shot first then if they missed the next person shot and by the time it gets to the third person, they just get to shoot a piece of the skeet if there is anything left.
Kelton shooting the kid shot gun my dad bought for the grandkids
John was the gun holder boy for grandpa but did get to shoo this .22, which is my
FAVORITE gun.
Monday the brothers-in-law went out for some REAL target shooting. I think they have too much fun together-check out the following pics and tell me what you think.

(Just loved this pic of my dad-He is one of the GREATEST guys I know)
Chad, James, Jared, & Trey
As the cowboy rides off in the distance-See what I mean, these guys definitely know how to have a great time!

First Days of School

Kelton is in 1st grade and going all day long. We miss him at home. His teacher is Mrs. Cavin and he is on Track A meaning he starts school at 8:00AM and gets out at 2:15PM. We like this time because he is an early riser and I can still teach a few classes since he gets out of school before my gym classes start.
John started Pre-School at Treehouse Pre-school. His teacher is Mrs. Skousen. He is feeling like a really big boy and goes into school all by himself. He is great at doing his homework and even lets Keith work along with him.
This is John's little class after the first day of class- Isn't he cute?
