Giant Chicken Nugget

Kelton has started 1st grade! I can't believe it. He came home after the first day of school and I asked him, "What was your favorite part of school?" he replied "It was long, so long we got 2 recesses!"

So the next day I asked him how school was he told me, "School was so long that I got to eat lunch there and guess what?" "What?" I said. "They gave me a GIANT CHICKEN NUGGET, and they tried to hide it in a hamburger bun!!" I then asked him, "What did you do, did you just eat it in the bun?" "No, mom, I took it out of the bun and ate it plain, but it was the biggest chicken nugget I've ever had. Oh, and I got chocolate milk and a pickle."

You just never know what to expect from school-hehehe

Alpine Days Parade

This last week was Alpine Days. My favorite part of summer. Usually we ride sheep at the rodeo and then go to the parade and enjoy the games and booths, but this year was a bit different. We went to a ward carnival (which was a blast!) and then dropped of Kelton and John at Boo & Chad's house for a sleep over. They thought they had died and gone to heaven. They helped Boo get things ready for her float in the parade the next day. So on Saturday morning we met up with everyone (mom, grandma Lorna, grandpa Rex, Kim & Glenn & their fam, Lee & Suzy, & Lacie and her kids) to watch the parade. Then it was on to the quilt show and so good old family time at Lacie's. That night we watched a show at Lacie's house & some how missed the fireworks.

Bee's Game

Trey's work had a summer party! They got us all tickets for dinner and to the Bee's game. It was so much fun. We ate and then Trey took the kids to ride the train and play on the bounce house while I got to sit and watch the game. I then was able to meet the families of the people Trey works with. Just after this picture was taken John saw some pigeons and told me that they where going to poop on us. I laughed and the 2 guys behind us told John that he had jinxed them and then they slid their beers under their seats. I was laughing so hard. The funniest part was when the pigeon actually did poop right next to the guys behind us and it landed right where his beer was before he slid it under his chair-hehe

Neighbors Jump-Off

My neighbors Ty & Sarah Bennet just got their back yard redone and it is a blast! They got a full sized tramp, a sand box, a slide and the ground is covered with rubber chips so it doesn't hurt to walk on. Well, after a few games of Kan Jam & some otter pops we decided it would be a good idea to have an adult jump off. So here is the out come.

Our Garden

This year I mentioned that Trey & I were trying to plant a garden. Well, we did and it is going ok. We planted radishes and those have all been picked and eaten. We planted leeks and those didn't come up. Our corn is coming along great (We have 5 stocks -all with ears on them). We have had peas although they didn't do great (We need to plant them in a different location next year). Our tomato bushes got beaten & broken by the wind, except for the one on my deck and it is doing AMAZING!! The bean bushes did well until the real heat hit and the kidos helped them out of the ground. Our zucchini is quite the producer and the cucumbers were delicious. Hopefully, next year we can draw from our experience from this year.

Bike Riding

Trey decided it was time for John to start riding his bike without training wheels-It went pretty good if you ask me. John picked it up well, but isn't sure how to start. It also makes it hard when you live on a hill. So we headed to the church parking lot.

Fairview Canyon AGAIN!

Yes! We went up Fairview canyon for the weekend again. This time we went with Keith & Jeana Christofferson, Brion & Aimee Webb Fam, my parents, Lawrences, Broadbents, Nelsens, & us. We had a blast. We were supposed leave leave Thursday, but after Kelton & John tried to teach our 3 chickens how to swim, plans got changes. Kelton & John were grounded for the night and so we couldn't leave til Friday morning. We met up with the Broadbents at 8:30AM picked-up some breakfast and headed to the camping spot.

Camp-32 people, 3 trailers, 2 tents, 2 4-wheelers, 1 trek ATV, & plenty of food

We left to go fishing before we headed home and when we got back it had rained ALOT! So we had to take down wet tents and then dry them out at home. Oh, well you live and learn right!

Sliding Rock

In Alpine there is a stream that runs down the mountain. On its way down it goes over a fairly smooth rock. We call it sliding rock. We hike up about 3/4 of a mile on a road and then about 20 yards to the stream and then up the rock and down the stream we come. My sister and her kids go a few times during the summer so I decided it was time to take the kids and let them give it a try. (I have gone down when I was a kid and again when I was a teenager, but didn't love it either time because the water is cold and the bump at the bottom is more than I like.) Lots of people love it and I think it is better to let the kids decide if they loved it, instead of letting my opinion chose for them. And it was a free afternoon of entertainment. Well, they liked it, except for the cold water and the bump. Isn't it amazing how much your kids are like you:)
