Run Forest, Run

Well, I did it. I started training for the Wasatch back relay. I was talked into it by my sister and & husband. Last summer my whole family, except Brad, Chad, Dad & me ran the Freedom Run in Provo. After ward they talked about how fun it was and what a great time they had together training and then asked everyone to sign up for the Ragnar Relay, Wasatch Back Race in June 2010. Of course we all signed up and now I am sweating bullets. Lacie has dropped out because she is pregnant. My mom has been elected to take her place. Chad had to pass the buck because of an injury. Jared's brother has taken his place. I have been running for about 2 weeks. The most I have gone is about 2 miles. I have a great group of ladies in my neighborhood that run. I'm talking 10+ miles a day. They are training for a marathon and so I thought it would be a great idea to run with them in the mornings. That way I don't have to drive to Alpine to run with everyone and I have some motivation to go each day. Long story short, I give them a call. We go running Friday morning for an 8 MILE run. I kept up until we reached the 3.5 mile mark and then I was dragging. They were so understanding and would graciously run ahead then make a loop and come back to get me. I hope they still let me run with them, but have to admit that I hope they do shorter runs, until I can keep up with them. All in all, I might just make it through the race, even though I may come in last and my body will most likely be aching like it is today:0 Thanks Shari, Marti, and Krista for a good dive into the deep end of an 8 MILE run!

Happy Birthday Keith

You are such a happy person. My favorite things about you are that you LOveS to smile, give hugs and kisses, and that you lets us know when we have made you feel bad. You have just started to say "mean." You will tell us this if we have taken something you had or don't give you what you ask for. Every morning I can hear you in your room doing your thing before you yell for mom. You love to play with his brothers. You think that you are their same age. Lucky for you, your brothers let you tag along and even play with them. You gets so excited when your dad and Kelton tell you bye before they leave for the day. You stand at the window and watche them leave and look for the bus when Kelton comes home. Keith we love you and are so glad you are a part of our family. Happy Birthday Beef Cake!

Valentine's Day

I've never been a big valentine person. I've always felt that you should tell the people you love how you feel each day. I know it sounds lame, but that is how I feel. That doesn't mean that I hate Valentines or think that it is a waste. I actually like it because you can feel everyone be just a bit kinder to everyone else. Anyway, Happy valentines to all. For Valentine's this year Trey and I went and bought a .22 gun. It is a fun little gun that we got to help the boys shoot. So we spent all day Monday out shooting the little .22 gun and spending time as a family. After shooting, Jo's kids called and we spent time up at grandmas and grandpas gym just playing. All the grandkids were there and Trey pulled them on the mat till he about passed out. Me, Jo, Lacie and grandma challenged each other to pull ups, leg lifts, straddles, pull over, what ever we could think of without hurting ourselves. I will say that Jo is a tiger when it comes to leg lifts and straddles. Grandma even got in about 20 straddles. I could only do 15 straddles because I ran 4 miles that morning (Yes an excuse, but a valid one at that). So at the end we ended up with a little .22 gun, 3 bad rug burns, sore legs, and 1 happy family.

Lava Hot Springs

A few weeks ago we spent the night up in Lava Hot Springs, ID. We have done this ever since I can remember. We all went up, Jo and her family, Me and my family, Lacie and her family, grandma & grandpa, Boo and Chad, even Libbey and Casey were able to come. (we missed KK and Brad). We left on a Friday and drove up to Brigham City and had dinner at Maddox. It was Brin's Birthday so so celebrated at the restaurant and again at the hot pots. Well, we got to the hotel which is a small home town hotel, but exactly what we need because it is right across the street from the hot pots. Trey checked in, got a key and Trey went to open our room so we could start putting all our stuff in. But when he opened the door someone was already in our room! Yes, they had given our room to someone else. Trey sorted the problem out and we were given a new room, then it was a night of wii games for the boys and nail painting for the girls. We all went to bed around 1:00AM. The next morning we ate breakfast at the Wagon Wheel Cafe and then over to the hot pots. Kelton could touch this year and so chased Drew and Hunter all over. John had his floaters and kicked back and forth between everyone. Trey and the men (except for grandpa) stayed in a smaller cooler pool until it was about time to leave. Me and Keith floated around every pool. I love this trip. It is short, low key, and at the perfect time of year. You want to get out but it is too cold to do anything, except go to the hot pots!

After soaking for a while we headed to Hardware Ranch. It is a fun place because they feed the elk there. They do this to keep the elk from going down into the city and eating all the crops. We got to get onto a horse pulled sleigh and go right up next to the elk. These animals are BIG. I knew they were big, because of hunting experiences, but when you see them walk and hold themselves up you realize just how powerful these animals could be.

John's Treasure

I was straightening John's bed after he had made it for the day and this is what I found under his pillow.

His wind up flash light, his bouncy ball, a Cabela's gun magazine rolled up and tied so he can swing it around and no one can take it, and a blue pocket knife (under the magazine)

These guys are the guardians of the treasure (found right on tip of his pillow). All treasure is protected--the yellow care bear, I'm told is REALLY mean if you touch John's stuff. hehehe

Outside Winter Fun

So I've been trying to find something for the kids to do outside. The snow is yucky because it's old, and has melted then froze again. The sun is out, but it is still freezing. Well, this is what I came up with (Thanks to the ladies at Trey's work)

Once we got started everyone came out to play for a while. It was so fun. If you fill the spray bottles with warm water their hands don't get cold as fast and each bottle is a different color. It was a good day with not so good snow. Thanks for coming to play with us everyone (Andie & her cousin, Saige, Brin, & T)
